Principal's Newsletter

Hello Spartan Families and Visitors,

Welcome to McConnellsburg Elementary School!  We are very excited to begin the 2023-2024 school year.  We look forward to an exciting and fun year of learning.

We welcome back over four hundred fifty students and our amazing teachers and support staff.  We have experienced a few grade level staff changes for the new school year.  First, Mrs. Jean Chilcote has moved from third grade to fifth grade.   Mrs. Karen Peters has retired from fifth grade but we hope to see her in the building as a substitute on days that she is available.

We are happy to welcome Mrs. Molly Culler as an Autistic Support classroom aide and Miss Kimberly Harris as our Americorp worker.  In addition, Mrs. Pam Cutchall has moved to the kindergarten wing from Learning Support.  She has replaced Mrs. Rena Sipes who has recently retired as a four year old kindergarten classroom aide.  Finally, Mrs Thailia Sims will move from Life Skills Aide to Learning Support Aide and Miss Alexa Helser will move from Autistic Support Aide to Life Skills Aide.

We are so proud to be able to say that we continue to utilize electronic devices for all of our kindergarten through fifth grade students for online instructional experiences.    Our online platforms serve to complement our traditional learning resources and written curriculum, which is aligned to the PA Core Standards.   Our teachers have spent many hours this summer writing and aligning curriculum to promote engaging and inspiring instruction in the classroom.

Our classroom and liberal arts teachers will continue to focus this year on STEM related activities while continuing to place an emphasis on grade level and individual learning expectations for mathematics and english language arts.   We expect to continue to expand experiences for our children in becoming proficient digital citizens, while maintaining our focus on our students becoming proficient readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists and thinkers in a continuously evolving world.

Our goal across the Central Fulton School District is to facilitate the growth of our students as collaborators, caring citizens, creators, contributors, communicators, and critical thinkers while remaining culturally aware and career minded.

We will continue our emphasis on cultivating responsible decision makers in our student learners.  Our theme of the current school year is to emphasize learning adventures while maintaining the principles of kindness and making moments matter.

We continue to reward positive behavior with a school wide positive behavior program.  As in the past, we offer our students the opportunity to earn daily, weekly, marking period and year end behavior rewards.   We hope to set an example as energetic learners who are accepting, encouraging and kind school citizens!

We look forward to a productive and successful year with ALL of our Spartan family members.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child’s educational experience at McConnellsburg Elementary.
